ShiRRéT Beginner fabric kit Pansy Brooch $11
10 Your first Shirret. It's not complicated, it's just two simple crochet stitches.A special cutting gauge
and ShiRReT needle™
is the secret .
1 - the needle bastes through fabric like a tapestry needle to ShiRR,
2 - and the hook makes stitches with cord to croch éT .
Fold squares of fabric a certain way and cut layers of strips, fast.Baste through the fabric with the ShiRRéT needle. Make a crochét stitch of cord. Pull a bit of fabric from the needle onto the cord stitch.
It starts 'out of thin air' with a slip loop on the hook, just like crochet.
Without the fabric it would be a scarf crocheted in rows or a round circle of double crochet stitches.
But the fabric gathers on the special Shirret needle and holds together in the stitches, and the stitches are hidden in the middle of the fabric. When you make your first piece, run it under hot water to Felt It.
BASIC TOOLS ARE $17
ShiRRéT is two handed crochet. If you can add an extra step to your 'tension' hand, you can ShiRRéT.The left hand is more active than the right hand. The left thumb and middle finger pull the fold of fabric off the needle, while the left pointer finger holds the tension in the cord.
The ShiRRéT needle fits inside the right hand, with the wiggle in the needle sitting around the joint of the first knuckle.
A left hand needle is available for Left Hand crochéters.

The medium weight wool in the kits is best to learn with."Oh, I get it ! A ShiRRéT stitch is a stitch plus a fold of fabric !"
