Black and white lines on the edges give it RHYTHM.

Ice Cream sundae rug, cotton, four feet,1972, LadyMcCrady. My first attempt at ShiRRéT as a teenager. It was featured in American Home Crafts magazine, editors Rachel Newman and Jane Luddecke. Louise and I went to a fabric cutting factory in Soho NYC in 1970 and
rescued a designer flower print from the floor. The owner sent us to
the Broome Street Bar for a 'Welcome Back Burger'.
My rug looks ruffley here but it lays flat. Damp blocking helps.

Eight foot long hall runner of 8 x 12" patchwork
is laced together and a border is added.

I make 8" ShiRRéT squares while I commute and while waiting during childrens classes.
