HOW TO SHIRRET

Step By Step

1- Cut scraps into strips
3/4" wide. There's a
quick way to fold and cut
multiple layers at once.

2- Baste in and out
through the middle of a
long strip with the tapestry
point of the Shirret Needle™.
It seems like basting but
you are not sewing. You
are filling the fabric strips
onto the needle to turn
them into 'folds'.

3- Use the hook on the
needle to make a slip loop
of rug cord.

4- Now wiggle a fabric fold
off  the hook & onto the slip
loop stitch.

This is the start of Shirret.
Fabric is added to each stitch.
Row 1 is chain stitches + fabric,
Row 2 and the rest is Double
Crochet stitches + fabric.

Because the cord stitch goes
through the middle of the
fabric strip, it is hidden on
both sides and thus the rug
is REVERSIBLE.

For round pieces, extra
folds are pulled off so the
rug can get bigger.

To make a square quilt rug
or floor pillow, I lace smaller
squares together.

It's easy to get patterned
effects - simply use striped
